European Commission launches push for enhancing Internet utilization in education field.

The fourth round of the youth competition, "Umbruchszeiten. Germany in Transition since Reunification," is set to commence on 1st September 2025, with the theme "New Encounters." This competition, organised by the Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship and the Federal Commissioner for the New States of Germany, invites young people aged 13 to 19 to participate.

The focus of this competition is on new encounters, particularly between East and West, North and South, young and old, and between people with and without migration experience. Participants can submit their contributions in various formats such as podcasts, videos, interview projects, exhibitions, reports, or social media contributions.

All participants will receive a certificate, and the best projects will be awarded prizes between 500 and 3,000 euros. The winning groups will also travel to Berlin for the award ceremony, with travel and accommodation costs covered.

Professional development opportunities for teachers and project mentors, as well as online office hours for interested teams, are available. The deadline for submissions is 1st February 2026.

The Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship, established by the German government in 1998, is located at Kronenstraße 5, 10117 Berlin. Currently, the foundation has a running exhibition titled "Women in Divided Germany."
