Top Airport Hotels in Europe Offer Value for Money, According to HolidayCheck Analysis
HolidayCheck, a German-language service and news portal, has released a comprehensive analysis of the best airport hotels in Europe. The study examined 135 hotels around the 30 busiest airports in Europe, with a focus on average guest satisfaction, room size, and price level.
Paris Charles de Gaulle takes the crown as the largest airport in Europe, welcoming over 67 million flight passengers annually. However, when it comes to airport hotels, the top spot goes to Milan-Malpensa, with a remarkable satisfaction score of 5.55 stars. Munich and Bergamo follow closely behind with scores of 5.5 and 5.47 stars, respectively.
Spain boasts a strong presence in the top 30, with six airports represented, including holiday destinations like Palma de Mallorca and Gran Canaria. Eastern Europe offers the best value for money in airport hotels, with Germany impressing with high quality. Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Frankfurt all achieve positive ratings.
However, guests rate hotels in Rome (4.17), Dublin (4.35), and Barcelona (4.65) significantly lower. Despite high costs, Rome, Dublin, and Palma de Mallorca have disappointing performance in terms of price-performance ratio. Rome hotels, for instance, have a rating of 4.17 stars at 293 euros, while Dublin hotels have a rating of 4.35 stars at 254 euros. Palma de Mallorca hotels, on the other hand, have a good rating of 5.04 stars but a small room size of 14.2 square meters and a price of 145 euros.
Interestingly, Gran Canaria has no hotel within the defined radius. In contrast, Alicante offers an average price of just 78 euros with 4.78 stars. Bucharest (4.8 stars, 98 euros) and Warsaw (5.1 stars, 116 euros) also offer a good combination of quality and price.
Some of the best airport hotels in Europe offering excellent price-performance ratios include Angelo Del' Arte Estate and Corfu Palace Hotel near Corfu Airport, Greece; Courtyard Hamburg Airport by Marriott in Germany; and Hotel Amba in Munich. These hotels combine convenient airport proximity with good amenities and reasonable prices.
Frankfurt and Amsterdam are also considered central transfer points in European air traffic. However, their airport hotels, such as Munich and Düsseldorf, achieve top ratings but are in the upper price range (228 and 197 euros respectively).
The average rating value for the surveyed airport hotels is 4.91 out of 6 stars. This analysis provides valuable insights for travellers seeking comfortable and affordable accommodation near Europe's busiest airports.
