European Action Week Participation: Mettmann Engaged in Operation Speed across Europe
During the Europe-wide action week "Operation Speed" from August 4 to August 10, 2025, the Mettmann District Police carried out extensive traffic checks. A total of 12,474 vehicles were examined during this period.
The results varied across the cities within the district. The city with the highest number of speeding violations was Ratingen, with a total of 242 speeding offenses recorded. This was followed by Hilden with 39 violations and Mettmann with 32 violations. Other cities such as Erkrath, Haan, and Heiligenhaus also reported speeding violations, with 79, 11, and 10 violations respectively.
Intriguingly, the city with the highest speed recorded was also Ratingen, where a driver was measured at 101 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. This driver now faces a fine of 400 euros, two points in Flensburg, and a one-month driving ban after deducting the tolerance.
It's worth noting that the differences in the number of measured violations among cities may be due to varying levels of measurement. For instance, areas with higher traffic volume may have a higher number of violations detected.
