Europe deems Germany as its ideal vacation spot

In a recent analysis by SuomiCasino, Europe's dream travel destinations for nature and culture holidays have been redefined. The study, which evaluated factors such as air quality, forest cover, water cleanliness, UNESCO World Heritage sites, mountain heights, number of waterfall hiking trails, and annual tourist numbers, has shed light on a new set of contenders.

Germany, with its rich cultural heritage and impressive natural beauty, has emerged as a strong contender. Covering 32% of its area in forests, Germany boasts almost 1,700 designated waterfall paths and 54 UNESCO World Heritage sites, making it one of Europe's culturally richest countries. The Zugspitze, standing at 2,963 meters, is Germany's highest peak.

Despite these impressive figures, Germany narrowly misses the top spot. According to the analysis, Germany's forest cover could be more extensive, and its water quality could be cleaner to secure a better ranking. Nevertheless, with 77% of its water quality rated as 'good', Germany is still a compelling choice for nature lovers.

The study predicts Germany to be the top travel destination for nature holidays in 2025. This prediction is based on the country's commitment to environmental quality, landscape diversity, and cultural substance, which are decisive factors in a "dream destination".

Meanwhile, Switzerland comes in second in the analysis with 7.0 points, with its alpine dimensions standing out. The country's clean air and water, coupled with its numerous UNESCO World Heritage sites, make it an attractive destination for those seeking a blend of nature and culture.

Interestingly, Liechtenstein, a small European country, finishes in ninth place. Despite having almost 42% forest cover and Europe's lowest air pollution levels, Liechtenstein's minimal tourist numbers prevent it from securing a higher ranking. However, the country's clean water and tranquil surroundings make it a hidden gem for those seeking a peaceful retreat.

Italy ranks third with 6.8 points, despite over 57 million visitors annually. The study highlights that despite its popularity, Italy still has places that preserve tranquility and authenticity. With its rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and numerous UNESCO World Heritage sites, Italy remains a dream destination for many.

The ranking of dream travel destinations in Europe is created by the organization TUI. The study serves as a reminder that a "dream destination" is no longer defined solely by beaches or tourist icons. Instead, it is a place that offers a unique blend of environmental quality, cultural substance, and natural beauty.
