€180,000 in New Funding Boosts Women and Queer Support in Saxony-Anhalt
Four new projects in Halle and southern Saxony-Anhalt will receive nearly €180,000 in funding. The money aims to expand support for women and queer individuals through counselling, education, and networking. State Commissioner for Women and Gender Equality Sarah Schulze announced the grants to two local organisations this week.
The funding will go to Dornrosa e.V. and BBZ 'lebensart' e.V., both long-standing advocates for gender equality. Dornrosa e.V. will receive around €93,000, while BBZ 'lebensart' e.V. is set to get €86,000. These funds will back four distinct initiatives across the region.
One of the supported projects is the Weiberwirtschaft women's centre, which provides safe spaces and resources for women. Another, 'liebensWERTe LebensWEISEn', will run educational and cultural programmes focused on gender diversity and social inclusion. The South Regional Coordination Office will act as a central point for connecting local groups and advising on gender and sexual diversity issues. The 'Sichtbar 2026' initiative, based in Halle (Saale), will use its share of the funding to strengthen counselling and information services. Its goal is to build more robust support networks for queer individuals in the area. Dornrosa e.V. will also continue its work in prevention, tackling gender-based violence through outreach and education.
The total funding of €179,000 will help expand critical services in Halle and southern Saxony-Anhalt. Counselling, education, and networking for women and queer communities are expected to improve as a result. The projects will roll out over the coming months under the guidance of the two funded organisations.
