Enthusiasts successfully conclude epic cross-continent journey from Hong Kong to the UK in their mini vehicles
In an unexpected turn of events, three long-time Mini enthusiasts, Vincent, Ken, and Billy, embarked on an epic journey from Hong Kong to the UK, only to find their destination, the International Mini Meeting in Sussex, cancelled during their journey.
The trio, who set off from Hong Kong on July 9, drove their classic Minis through at least 19 countries, including China, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Belgium, France, and more. After a gruelling 18,000 km drive, they arrived in Somerset, specifically in Taunton, on August 23.
The arrival in Taunton was met with a heroes' welcome, as the Minis, having traversed the globe, were a sight to behold. The Minis were the centre of attention at the Mini Cheese and Cider event, organised by Andy McPhail and Emma Slocombe, which saw 200 attendees from 19 countries.
The exact location of the Mini Cheese and Cider event within Taunton was not specified, but the event was a beacon of hope for the attendees who were left in limbo by the cancellation of the International Mini Meeting in Sussex.
At the event, the trio was awarded the furthest travelled gong, a testament to their extraordinary journey. However, after touring around the UK, the classic Minis driven by Vincent, Ken, and Billy are now set to be shipped back to Hong Kong.
