The Printers Row Lit Fest, the largest and oldest literary festival in the nation, took place in downtown Chicago on Saturday, marking its 40th anniversary. This significant event for book lovers in the United States attracted a diverse array of authors, including seven Pulitzer Prize-winning authors and New York Times and USA Today best-selling authors.

Parul Bhandari, an author showcasing her books for the first time at the festival, writes American-born stories on South Asian culture. Joining her were numerous other authors, each offering a unique perspective and voice.

Attendees had the opportunity to purchase new books at the festival, browsing through a wide range of works showcased by the authors. The festival offered more than just books, however. Discussions on topics such as book-banning, race, sexual identity, politics, and more were also at the forefront of the festival, encouraging open dialogue and fostering a deeper understanding of these important issues.

The Chicago Public Library added to the excitement by choosing its first Puerto Rican-authored book for the One Book, One Chicago program, a separate event. This decision further emphasised the festival's commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in literature.

The Printers Row Lit Fest is free and runs again on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering another chance for book lovers to immerse themselves in the world of literature and engage with authors from across the nation. Whether you're a lifelong reader or just discovering your love for books, the Printers Row Lit Fest is an event not to be missed.
