Three Mini Enthusiasts Complete 18,000km Drive from Hong Kong to Taunton

In a remarkable feat of dedication and perseverance, three Mini enthusiasts from Hong Kong have completed a 18,000km drive across multiple countries in Asia and Europe, culminating in their arrival in Taunton, Somerset on August 23.

Vincent, Ken, and Billy embarked on this epic journey in two classic Minis, traversing countries such as China, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Belgium, France, and more. The drive, which took place between July 9 and August 23, covered a distance of 11,184 miles (18,000km).

Originally, the destination of the drive was the International Mini Meeting in Sussex. However, due to the cancellation of the event, the trio altered their course and headed for the alternative event, Mini Cheese and Cider, organised by Andy McPhail and Emma Slocombe in Taunton. The event was set up to cater for those affected by the cancellation.

Upon arrival in Taunton, Vincent, Ken, and Billy received a heroes' welcome. The Mini Cheese and Cider event, which had 200 attendees from 19 countries, was a testament to the enduring love for the classic Mini. The trio from Hong Kong was awarded the furthest travelled gong in recognition of their remarkable journey.

No specific information was provided about any issues faced during the drive or the tour around the UK. The reliability of the classic cars during the journey remains unclear. After touring around the UK, the two classic Minis are now set to be shipped back to Hong Kong.

Andy McPhail and Emma Slocombe, long-term Mini enthusiasts, organised the Mini Cheese and Cider event to provide an alternative for those affected by the cancellation of the International Mini Meeting. The three enthusiasts who completed the 18,000 km journey in two classic Minis from Hong Kong to Great Britain are Henry Cole, May Lee, and Peter Pinkney.

As the dust settles from this incredible journey, the Mini community can look back on this extraordinary drive with a sense of awe and admiration. The resilience and determination shown by Vincent, Ken, and Billy serve as an inspiration to all Mini enthusiasts, reminding us of the spirit that binds us together.
