Enhancing Training Quality is the primary goal of this program, aiming to elevate the standard of instruction delivered.

In the heart of Lübeck, the Hanseatic City of Germany, a vibrant transformation is underway. The city's trainees in landscape gardening, under the guidance of Ulrike Schölkopf, the acting head of the city greenery and traffic department, have taken over the planting along the pedestrian zone.

The trainees, in collaboration with the Lübeck Lupes, have developed five unique planting concepts, each tailored to the site conditions and focused on sustainability. One of these concepts was even the brainchild of the trainees themselves.

The new planting, with its subtle lilac, pink, and white tones, creates a harmonious and unobtrusive effect in the narrowness of the city centre. It also serves as a valuable habitat for insects, contributing to the city's biodiversity.

The plant selection for this project includes the blue-leaved Funkia (Hosta Hybride 'Halcyon'), wild aster (Aster ageratoides 'Asran'), autumn anemone (Anemone tomentosa 'Serenade'), and drought-tolerant grasses such as the feather grass (Stipa tenuissima). However, without regular maintenance, these competitive perennials may be displaced by unwanted growth in the long run.

The Lübeck Lupes' work has not only contributed to the upgrading of the inner-city area but also to the city centre benefiting from sustainable and lively urban design. Mayor Jan Lindenau has praised the trainees' work and their contributions to the project, highlighting the long-term thriving potential of the plants chosen for the site.

This project, implemented in 17 u-shaped beds along Breiten Straße, is a testament to the trainees' practical experience and their commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable city. The search results do not contain information about the names of the trainees involved or their ideas for implementing one of the five planting concepts. Nonetheless, their efforts have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the city of Lübeck.
