Kicking Off Responsible Gambling Initiatives: MGM Resorts and BetMGM Set the Pace

Ready to roll the dice on responsible gambling? That's exactly what MGM Resorts International and their joint venture, BetMGM, are doing as they gear up to take a stand against problem gambling. In the lead-up to March, which is known as Problem Gambling Awareness Month, these powerhouses in the casino and entertainment industry have unveiled a series of initiatives to beef up their responsible gaming efforts.

Ramping up Responsible Gambling Efforts

MGM Resorts International has kicked things off by donating a hefty $180,000 dollars to the Kindbridge Research Institute. This investment is aimed at analyzing the impact of sports betting on various demographics, and will help develop strategies to promote responsible gambling.

On the other side of the coin, BetMGM – a 50/50 joint venture between MGM Resorts and Entain – is looking to expand its Kindbridge Behavioral Health referral program across the nation. This initiative offers mental health services for individuals grappling with gambling issues, emphasizing BetMGM's dedication to responsible gaming.

A Flurry of Additional Initiatives

Lining up alongside these moves are additional efforts by BetMGM and MGM Resorts. For starters, they'll be increasing the visibility of responsible gambling messaging from GameSense, a program previously implemented by BetMGM and originally developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation in 2017.

In another move, they'll be connecting with Gaming Law students from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, working together to optimize the long-term sustainability of the gambling industry while elevating the customer experience for BetMGM patrons and MGM Resorts guests.

Furthermore, MGM Resorts has pledged a $60,000 donation to the State Councils on Problem Gambling, while BetMGM has renewed its agreement with EPIC Global Solutions, a trusted consultancy in problem gambling education.

Excitement Builds

Stephen Martino, MGM Resorts' Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, expressed his enthusiasm for these initiatives: "As a global gaming and hospitality leader, we are always looking to support innovative and actionable research that can make a positive impact." He went on to explain how these studies would support the industry as MGM Resorts grows across the globe.

Rhea Loney, BetMGM's Chief Compliance Officer, also expressed her no-nonsense stance on responsible gaming: "Responsible gaming is a focal point of our operations, and we will continue to invest in programs that promote player protection and well-being." Loney also touched upon the collaboration with Kindbridge Behavioral Health, saying that expanding their partnership would ensure essential support services remain within reach for those who need it.

These principled moves by MGM Resorts International and BetMGM underscore their commitment to promoting responsible gaming practices within their operations and the broader gaming community.
