Enhanced worth for gamers as Xbox Game Pass boosts subscription prices
Microsoft's Vice President of Next Generation, Jason Ronald, has revealed plans to expand Xbox Cloud Gaming to the Core and Standard tiers of Game Pass. This move is aimed at making the service more accessible and affordable for a wider audience, as well as reaching new regions and ways to access the Xbox cloud.
Currently, playing console games from the PC Game Pass library is not available for Core and Standard members. However, with the expansion, select titles from the PC Game Pass library will be accessible to these members. It's important to note that these PC titles can only be played on a PC or a Windows handheld.
The cloud gaming service expansion is not related to the rumored ad-supported tier for Game Pass, for which no official confirmation has been made. This is a rare example of a gaming service offering an increase in value, as Game Pass has been increasing its price in numerous stories. However, this move brings cloud gaming to gamers on a budget.
Ronald mentioned that the cloud gaming service expansion is to make it more affordable for players. Xbox is currently testing a new option for Game Pass that offers cloud gaming on Core and Standard tiers. The service is primarily intended for PC and Windows handheld devices.
While no official confirmation has been made about the ability to play console games from the PC Game Pass library on a console using mouse and keyboard, this expansion marks a significant step forward in making gaming more accessible to a broader audience. This is indeed a positive move for budget-conscious gamers who can now enjoy a wider range of games through the cloud gaming service.
