In the city of Osnabrück, mobile network users can expect improved indoor reception and increased coverage, thanks to the ongoing expansion efforts by Deutsche Telekom. The mobile network sites built by Deutsche Funkturm in the city serve the area along the Bremen-Dortmund railway line, with more sites planned over the next three years.

Deutsche Telekom AG has been at the forefront of this mobile network expansion, driven by the increasing demand for bandwidth. According to Stefanie Halle, Deutsche Telekom spokesperson, the company is pushing ahead with these efforts due to a yearly increase in bandwidth demand by about 30 percent.

The expansion has already resulted in more bandwidth being available in the mobile network in Osnabrück, ensuring smoother data usage and faster mobile internet for the city's residents. Five more sites are planned for Osnabrück over the next three years, with 46 existing sites to be expanded with LTE or 5G technology.

Telekom currently operates 72 sites in Osnabrück, covering nearly 100% of the city with mobile internet and a fast mobile network. This extensive coverage ensures that 100% of households in the city have access to mobile internet.

Not only does this expansion improve everyday usage, but it also enhances emergency services. Emergency calls and warnings are now possible at all sites in the expanded mobile network in Osnabrück, with Advanced Mobile Location (AML) technology automatically transmitting the caller's location to the emergency control center during 112 calls. The mobile network sites in the region also support the Cell Broadcast warning system, which sends danger alerts to mobile phones in the affected cell, for example in case of large fires, gas explosions, or floods.
