Enhanced Cooperation Highlighted at Vietnam-Thailand Business Summit
On August 28, a significant event titled "Boosting Economic Cooperation and Socioeconomic Development Forum" was held in Khon Kaen, Thailand. The forum was part of activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day and served as a platform for businesses from both countries to exchange insights, share development visions, and engage in discussions on policy directions aligned with business realities.
The event, co-organised by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, the Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association, and the Thai-Vietnam Business Association, drew nearly 150 delegates, including diplomats, business leaders, partner organisations, and overseas Vietnamese.
Discussions at the forum focused on opportunities for cooperation in areas such as the green economy, brand development, and market expansion in northeast Thailand. Most entrepreneurs hope that governments of both countries and ASEAN can establish a single gateway for private sector engagement to accelerate growth and shape a more sustainable global supply chain.
A dialogue session addressed more structural issues, including supply chains, logistics, legal frameworks, the digital economy, innovation, and overseas Vietnamese collaboration. Nguyen Ngoc Tan, chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Tourism Club of Vietnam, called for stronger institutional support for the private sector.
The Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association of the province held a meeting on September 13, 20XX, with representatives including the provincial Foreign Affairs Department, the Provincial Police Internal Political Protection Department, Tan Trao University, and the Provincial Friendship Organizations Union to promote economic relations and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand.
Several cooperation agreements were signed between the Thai-Vietnam Business Association and Vietnamese enterprises at the trade fair that accompanied the forum. Vietnam and Thailand have been strengthening their relations, with the latter spending $97 million on Vietnamese fruit and vegetables in the first six months of the year, double the figure from the same period in 2023.
The upcoming U17 women's football friendly match between Thailand and Vietnam is another significant step in promoting people-to-people exchanges. Amata Vietnam welcomed a delegation from the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association on September 13.
The Vietnam-Northeast Thailand Trade Fair opened with nearly 50 booths from businesses of both countries, showcasing their products and services. The forum and trade fair aim to foster closer economic ties between Vietnam and Thailand, contributing to the growth and development of both nations.
