England ODI Series: Eoin Morgan Advocates for Sam Curran's Involvement in ENG Squad

In the ongoing ODI series against South Africa, former England ODI captain Eoin Morgan has expressed his belief that Sam Curran should be included in the squad. Morgan, who led England to World Cup glory in 2019, believes that Curran's all-round skills could help transform the current ODI team.

Morgan stated that the balance of the current ODI side is similar to the one he started with in 2015. He emphasised the importance of a seam-bowling all-rounder and a fourth pace-bowling option as the captain evolved. However, whether Curran will indeed be included in the team is still up for debate.

The current head coach of the England men's ODI cricket team, Brendon McCullum, has not made any official statements regarding Curran's eligibility or selection for the ODI team. Harry Brook, the selector for the England ODI team, has been considering various options, including Sonny Baker, Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, Adil Rashid, and others for the series against South Africa.

In the first ODI, England faced a tough defeat, being bowled out for 131 after losing eight wickets for 49 runs. The Proteas won the match by a margin of seven wickets. It is unclear if Curran's inclusion in the team would have changed the outcome of the match.

Curran, who is 27 years old, has been a valuable asset to the England team in the past, with his all-round skills proving to be a game-changer in various matches. However, his current status in the England ODI squad is unclear.

England is exploring other options instead of pushing Curran to one side. Liam Overton might be considered as a longer-term solution. Regardless, Morgan's insistence on Curran's inclusion underscores the importance of having a versatile all-rounder in the ODI squad.

As the series against South Africa continues, fans and analysts alike will be eagerly waiting to see if Curran will be given a chance to prove his worth once again.
