Energy Storage System Expansion: Energy Vault and Jupiter Power Agree on 100 MW/200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System Deal
Energy Vault and Jupiter Power Announce Additional Battery Energy Storage System
In a continued effort to deliver reliable, safe, and efficient energy storage solutions, Energy Vault and Jupiter Power have announced an agreement for an additional 100 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). This latest announcement serves as another milestone in the ongoing partnership between the two companies, which began in 2022.
The new BESS will be built using Energy Vault's B-VAULT product and VaultOS Energy Management System. It will offer unique AC-coupled and DC-coupled configurations for project flexibility, providing customer optionality with both battery and inverter suppliers. The system's architecture will enable the integration and delivery of these equipment and services through Energy Vault's hardware and software management platform.
The new BESS will be located in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region, enhancing grid resiliency in the area. This development comes as Jupiter's BESS projects portfolio in the ERCOT region has reached a critical mass.
Michael Geier, Chief Technology Officer at Jupiter Power, expressed his excitement about continuing to build with Energy Vault at this critical site. "We are thrilled to partner with Energy Vault once again as we work towards decarbonizing the grid in an economically effective fashion," he said.
Marco Terruzzin, Chief Commercial and Product Officer at Energy Vault, also expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. "We are proud to continue serving as a partner to Jupiter Power in this endeavour," he said.
To date, Energy Vault's B-VAULT portfolio consists of more than 2 GWh in total projects either deployed or currently in development. The initial 100 MW/200 MWh BESS was completed in July 2024.
The source for this latest announcement is not specified in the provided text. However, it is worth noting that in 2022, an agreement was made between Energy Vault and Jupiter Power to secure 2.4 GWh of supply chain equipment and services.
This partnership between Energy Vault and Jupiter Power is a testament to their collaborative approach to delivering innovative and sustainable energy solutions. The new BESS will undoubtedly contribute to the decarbonization of the grid in the ERCOT region and beyond.
