In the heart of London, there's a midwife who's making a significant impact on the lives of many. Amina Hatia, a seasoned professional, has dedicated her career to helping expectant mothers and their families navigate the journey of pregnancy and childbirth.

Born from a life-changing experience, Amina's second pregnancy and the birth of her second daughter inspired her to become a midwife. Two years after her daughter's birth, she embarked on her midwifery training, a decision that would shape her life and the lives of countless others.

Amina's breadth of experience spans across the public and charity sectors, where she finds hope and optimism. She has been instrumental in setting up DWB's Mother Tongue project, a grassroots initiative aimed at providing support to mothers whose native tongue is not English.

In her current role at the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, Amina delivers antenatal care, leading change as the cultural safety lead. She is passionate about supporting disadvantaged parents and has expertise in handling cases of infant loss, providing guidance to families during their most difficult times.

Amina also extends her support through Tommy's call-back service, offering pregnancy advice and emotional support to those in need. Her passion for personalized care and moving away from judgement in maternity care is evident in her approach.

Amina has a deep understanding of the importance of choice and individual voice in maternity care. She advocates for expectant mothers in their quest for quality maternity care within the NHS.

In addition to her work in the health sector, Amina is a valued expert at Tommy's, a pregnancy charity, where she provides knowledge and training. Her commitment to her profession is such that she recently passed her midwifery role to her daughter, Amber, a newly graduated midwife.

Before her career in midwifery, Amina was employed at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) before her retirement. The skills she honed during her time there, such as navigating complex cases and providing support, have served her well in her current role.

Amina finds fulfillment in the small impacts she has on people's lives. When not caring for her patients, she enjoys cooking South Asian and Middle Eastern food, a hobby that brings her joy and allows her to share her culture with others.

In a world where personalized care and empathy are often overlooked, Amina Hatia stands as a beacon of hope and compassion, making a difference one life at a time.
