Emergency Wristband Thieves Swindle Residents in Gronau, Police Report Says
On July 7, 2025, at 11:30 AM, a crime occurred in Gronau, Germany, on Gildehauser Straße. The police in Gronau are seeking witnesses regarding the theft of an emergency call bracelet from an elderly man.
Elderly people often wear emergency call bracelets in case of accidents, allowing them to make an emergency call by pressing a red button. The victim, in this case, only realised several hours later that his emergency call bracelet had been stolen.
The crime involved a brazen trick, where the perpetrators pretended to need directions to the Netherlands. While asking for directions, a woman put a golden ring on the victim's finger, which the victim immediately returned. However, the woman, who is described as approximately 1.65m tall, with long black hair in a ponytail, and speaking broken German, is a suspect in the theft.
The perpetrators were in a dark blue car, driven by a man and accompanied by the woman suspect. The vehicle has not been identified yet. The suspects have not been apprehended as of the time of the report.
The police warn against engaging in conversations with strangers on the street due to the risk of tricksters. Thieves may create opportunities with exaggerated gestures of gratitude and hugs, so it is advised to maintain a safe distance.
