Emergency services received four individuals following a kitchen fat-burning incident illuminated by blue light in Kleve, Kleve
On August 22, 2025, the Kleve fire department, along with other units, responded to a call for a building fire on Dresdener Straße in Dresden. The fire stations in Kleve, Süd (Materborn/Reichswalde) and the command vehicle from Wardhausen-Brienen were dispatched to the scene at 2:00 PM.
Upon arrival, the firefighting teams found a grease fire on a stove that had been improperly extinguished with water, resulting in a grease explosion. A team in breathing apparatus was immediately sent to the affected apartment for firefighting and rescue.
The fire department's note emphasizes that grease fires should not be extinguished with water. Instead, they suggest turning off the stove and smothering the flames, or using a suitable grease fire extinguisher (Class F) when dealing with grease fires.
The thermal imaging camera was used to monitor the affected kitchen area. After conducting ventilation measures, the fire department was able to extinguish the fire, and no further action was required.
There were four people in the apartment at the time of the fire, all of whom were brought outside by the fire department. The four individuals were handed over to the emergency services with suspected smoke inhalation.
The operation was completed after the fire department performed their tasks, and no further incidents were reported. The fire department's emergency number is 112, and they remind the public to prioritise safety when dealing with fires in the home.
