In the town of Herdecke, two separate incidents involving fire alarms occurred within a week.

On Monday at 17:58, an oil spill was reported to the voluntary fire department. Upon arrival, several oil spots were found and neutralized by the fire department on site. The police had already secured the scene of a traffic accident that had occurred on Ender Talstraße, exit hospital, involving a motorcycle.

Thanks to the fire alarm system, the damage was limited, and no significant contamination was reported. The road maintenance authority was requested for the disposal of the binding agent on Tuesday. Two warning signs were set up as a precaution.

On Tuesday at 9:24, another incident occurred when a traffic accident involving a motorcycle and contamination of Ender Talstraße was reported. The police had already secured the scene, and the road maintenance authority was on its way to clean up the area.

On Wednesday, the first incident took place at a chemical industrial plant on the front Wetterstraße. At 7:23, a fire alarm was triggered from the plant. The fire department was guided to the scene, and upon arrival, they found a room slightly smoky. However, thanks to the fire alarm system, the fire was already under control, and no fire was present. The operation for the fire truck was cancelled as it was not necessary.

Later on Wednesday at 12:04, another fire alarm occurred at a power plant on Straße Im Schiffwinkel. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the fire alarm was triggered by an accidental activation of a smoke extraction system in the control room. Thankfully, no fire was present at the power plant, and the incident did not result in any significant damage or contamination.

The Fire Department Herdecke was involved in both incidents. The Deputy Chief Fire Officer and Press Officer for the Herdecke Fire Department is Johannes Reinke. The effectiveness of the fire alarm system was evident in both incidents, limiting the damage and ensuring the safety of the community.

These incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a functional fire alarm system and the quick response of the fire department in ensuring the safety of the community.
