Emergency responders successfully douse a fire located in the basement of an apartment complex in Bergheim.
Fire in Auenheim Multi-Family Home: No Injuries Reported
A fire broke out in a multi-family home on Forellenweg in Bergheim's Auenheim district on Wednesday evening. The fire department responded promptly to the incident, with around 40 personnel from the Niederaußem, Oberaußem, Rheidt-Hüchelhoven units, and the professional fire station in action.
Upon arrival, the fire department confirmed that all residents had evacuated safely. Chief Fire Officer Marc Deckstein led the operation, with two teams in heavy breathing apparatus entering the basement to fight the fire. The deployed forces achieved a significant extinguishing success in the basement, where the fire was limited to several textiles and other stored items in the laundry room.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the firefighting operation. Another team secured the entire staircase, and the building was thoroughly ventilated and checked for possible hazardous substances using measuring devices. The operation was completed around 19:30.
Initial reports suggested that people were still inside the building, but these proved to be unfounded. The exact cause of the fire is not specified in the article. Subsequently, all residents were able to return to their apartments.
