Elite Demon Hunters in Demon Slayer: A Comprehensive Guide to All Hashira Characters
The Demon Slayer Corps is a formidable force tasked with protecting the world from the threat of demons. At the pinnacle of this organization are the Hashira, the highest rank in the Corps.
The current active Hashira include seven members: Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka, Flame Hashira (formerly Kyojuro Rengoku), Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui (currently retired), Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji, Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro, Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima, and Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa.
Giyu Tomioka, a stoic warrior, is known for his use of Water Breathing and will appear in the upcoming Demon Slayer Infinity Castle. He saved Tanjiro Kamado and his sister Nezuko from a demon attack early in the series.
Tanjiro himself is not yet a Hashira despite his involvement in the Hashira Training arc.
Kyojuro Rengoku, the former Flame Hashira, was tragically killed by Upper Three demon Akaza during the Mugen Train arc.
Tengen Uzui, one of the most popular Hashira, is known for his over-the-top appearances and quirks, including his harem of wives and love of flashy things. He uses Sound Breathing and a pair of swords in battle.
Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, is known for her bright pink hair and green highlights, and her excitable and passionate demeanor.
Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Hashira, is known for his emotional outbursts and use of the Stone Breathing style. His backstory includes a tragic childhood and wrongful imprisonment.
Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira, is the older brother of the demon slayer Genya, and a user of the Wind Breathing technique.
The Mist Hashira is Muichiro Tokito, a key ally for Tanjiro during the Swordsmith Village arc, and user of the Mist Breathing style. He is the youngest Hashira at only 14 years old.
Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Hashira, has heterochromia and a bandaged mouth, and is one of the few Hashira yet to fight an Upper Rank demon.
The Insect Hashira is Shinobu Kocho, who initially tried to kill Nezuko but became a trusted ally. She uses Insect Breathing and poison to defeat her enemies. However, the current status of her sister, Flower Hashira Kanae Kocho, is not clear.
The Hashira are currently led by no one, as their previous leader, Kagaya, perished. In recent events, the overall leadership of the Demon Slayer Corps is under Kiriya, who leads the Corps in the latest Demon Slayer film. The Hashira are the highest-ranking swordsmen within the Corps, but the overall leadership is under Kiriya.
The Hashira must meet certain criteria to join their ranks. One must either kill 50 demons or defeat one of Muzan Kibutsuji's Twelve Kizuki, the upper echelon of demons serving under Muzan.
These elite swordsmen are crucial to the survival of humanity in the face of the demon threat. Their strength, skill, and dedication make them formidable opponents and valuable allies in the fight against evil.
