Geely Riddara RD6: The Revolutionary All-Electric ute Arrives in New Zealand

Geely New Zealand, a subsidiary of the Giltrap Group offshoot NordEast, has unveiled the Riddara RD6 Pro, the country's first fully electric ute. The Riddara marks the return of the traditional ute, blending the comfort and dynamics of an SUV with the robust versatility of a pickup-style vehicle.

The Riddara is equipped with a 73kWh battery that promises a range of 360km under the WLTP cycle. With a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.5 seconds, the Riddara is poised to redefine expectations in the New Zealand ute market.

The Riddara RD6's cockpit is more car-like, featuring ventilated front and rear seats for added comfort. The vehicle's interior also boasts a large 14.6-inch "floating" infotainment touchscreen, complete with a "540-degree" surround view monitor.

For off-roading enthusiasts, the Riddara RD6 offers seven drive modes, including multiple options specifically designed for rugged terrain. The vehicle's impressive torsional stiffness of 30,300Nm and a maximum gradability of 95 percent (43.5 degrees) further underscore its off-road capabilities.

The Riddara RD6 also boasts an intelligent electric four-wheel drive system and a wading depth of 815mm. It can tow up to 3000kg and has a 1030kg payload in the tray.

Pre-sales for the Geely Riddara RD6 are now open, and the vehicle will be officially on sale and available for test drives at dealerships starting September 15th. First customer deliveries are expected at the end of October. The Riddara will retail in New Zealand for $69,990, the same as the plug-in hybrid BYD Shark 6.
