Electric Car Thieves Finalize Heists in 3.5 Hours; Spiral Charging Cables in Electric Vehicles Targeted and Disassembled
In a series of unfortunate events, car thieves have been active in the regions of Hanau, Erlensee / Langendiebach, and Gelnhausen, stealing several vehicles over the past few days.
The most recent theft was reported in Erlensee / Langendiebach, where the owner of a blue Audi discovered his vehicle missing on Wednesday morning around 7:00. The car, which had a keyless-go function, was likely stolen without causing any damage, as the unknown perpetrators exploited this feature to open and drive off with the vehicle.
In Hanau, a white VW Passat was stolen from Am Bocksborn (20 series house numbers) on Wednesday around 15:00. The owner had parked his vehicle with HU license plates at the roadside earlier in the day. Upon returning after only three and a half hours, he discovered the theft.
In a similar incident, unknown individuals tampered with an electric Kia Soul in Hanau on Tuesday evening at 23:55, dismantling its spiral charging cable and fleeing the scene. The incident occurred in the Brűder-Grimm-Straße (120 series house numbers).
The theft of a vehicle in Gelnhausen was also reported, with the criminals managing to steal a vehicle in just three and a half hours.
