Traffic Accident Involving Police Car in Troisdorf

A traffic accident involving a police car occurred at the intersection of Poststraße/Blücherstraße/Willy-Brandt-Ring/Wilhelmstraße in Troisdorf on August 30th, at approximately 04:45 AM.

According to the original content transmitted via news aktuell from Rhein-Sieg District Police Headquarters, the incident took place as a 75-year-old driver from Troisdorf was driving through the intersection. He claimed to have seen a police car with flashing lights and sirens approaching from Poststraße. Unfortunately, after the first patrol car passed the intersection, the man started driving and collided with a second patrol car, which was a Mercedes Vito.

The 75-year-old driver was severely injured and taken to the hospital. Two police officers, aged 37 and 42, also sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The 42-year-old driver of the Mercedes Vito tried to swerve onto the opposite lane but couldn't avoid the collision.

Both vehicles, with damage exceeding 10,000 euros, were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away. The accident site was temporarily closed during the investigation, which is being handled by the traffic division of the Bonn police to ensure neutrality. Police officers from Cologne are also involved in the investigation.
