A tragic incident occurred in the heart of Bad Münstereifel on Tuesday, September 2nd, as a traffic accident left an 87-year-old pedestrian with severe injuries. The accident took place on Schleidtalstraße, a busy road leading towards Kölner Straße, at around 4:20 PM.
The elderly pedestrian was crossing the road from a nearby park at the time of the accident. Despite the driver's evasive maneuver, the collision could not be avoided, resulting in the pedestrian sustaining severe injuries.
The driver involved in the accident was a 64-year-old from Bad Münstereifel-Scheuren, who was traveling on Schleidtalstraße towards Kölner Straße. The police from Euskirchen's traffic accident investigation team handled the incident, and the accident site was closed for investigation until 7:34 PM.
The 87-year-old pedestrian was airlifted to a hospital by a rescue helicopter due to the life-threatening injuries sustained in the accident.
