Fatal Accident in Athens: Elderly Man Struck by Train

Tragedy struck the streets of Athens on Friday morning when an elderly man lost his life in a tragic accident. The incident occurred at the junction of Konstantinoupoleos Street and Athinon Avenue, in the Metaxourgeio area of the city.

The exact cause of the accident is not yet clear, but reports suggest that the man may have been attempting to cross the railway line on foot when he was hit by a Hellenic Train service.

Emergency services, including six firefighters and two vehicles, were swiftly dispatched to the scene to recover the body. An ambulance from the National First Aid Center (EKAB) also attended the incident, transporting the remains from the scene.

Local media have speculated that the victim may have been homeless, but this detail has not been confirmed by authorities.

The accident disrupted the Hellenic Train service in the Metaxourgeio area, causing delays and disruption to commuters.

Police officers are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, in an effort to establish the exact cause of the accident. At present, there are no publicly available reports of victims from a train accident in Metaxourgeio, Athens, that occurred on a Friday morning at 8 AM.
