The search operation was initiated after the hiker was reported missing on Sunday, September 7. The location of the rescue was the Haiminger Alm, a popular hiking spot near the municipality of Haiming in the Upper Inn Valley.
The rescue operation involved multiple emergency services and mountain rescue teams, including those from Sautens and Mieming, fire departments from Haiming and Landeck, and emergency services. A police helicopter was also utilised in the search.
The missing hiker was believed to have set out on the hike to the Haiminger Alm on Saturday, September 6. Contact was made with the missing hiker via phone, with the hiker reporting that they were lost. The search operation included the use of search dogs, drones, and the police helicopter.
The rescued hiker was taken to the Zams hospital for further evaluation, and it's unclear if they sustained any injuries during the incident. The Imst rescue service provided first aid to the hiker before they were transported.
The search operation ended at 2:20 AM on Monday, bringing relief to the many volunteers and emergency services involved. The identity of the hiker remains undisclosed to the public at this time.
