Elderly Driver Sustains Severe Injuries, Currently Hospitalized According to Authorities
Accident at Troisdorf Intersection Involving Police Car and Elderly Driver
A traffic accident on August 30th at the intersection of Poststraße/Blücherstraße/Willy-Brandt-Ring/Wilhelmstraße in Troisdorf left several individuals injured and caused extensive damage to the vehicles involved.
The accident involved a collision between a police car and a 75-year-old driver from Troisdorf. According to the driver's account, he had stopped at a red light when he saw a police car approaching from Poststraße. After the first police car had passed the intersection, he started driving again and collided with a second police car.
Both vehicles were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away, with damages exceeding 10,000 euros. The 75-year-old driver and two police officers were injured and taken to the hospital. The officers, aged 37 and 42, were on their way to a reported brawl at the time of the accident.
The investigation into the cause of the accident has been taken over by the traffic division of the Bonn Police to ensure neutrality. The search results do not provide the name of the head of the traffic police division who is conducting the further investigation.

The intersection was temporarily closed during the investigation. The 42-year-old driver of the second police car, a Mercedes Vito, tried to swerve onto the opposite lane to avoid the collision but was unable to prevent it.
The Cologne Police have taken over the overall investigation to ensure neutrality. The accident remains under investigation by both the Bonn Police's traffic division and the Cologne Police.
