Egypt's RoadRunner secures six-figure seed funding for providing on-demand delivery services to eateries and various businesses.

In the bustling city of Cairo, a logistics startup named RoadRunner has recently secured a six-figure seed investment. Founded in 2019 by Khaled Taha and Ahmed Radi, the company is making waves in the Egyptian market with its unique approach to on-demand delivery solutions.

RoadRunner operates with positive unit economics, focusing on both the volume and the profitability of transactions. According to Khaled Taha, the CEO of RoadRunner, this strategy has helped them achieve a large number of transactions and positive gross profit on every single order.

The strategic individual investor who funded RoadRunner is Jan Beckers. Unlike conventional food delivery players, RoadRunner acts as an on-demand delivery partner for restaurants and businesses that don't want to pay high cuts to food delivery aggregators. The startup charges a fixed fee for every delivered order, using its network of salaried drivers.

RoadRunner is currently working with over 70 restaurants in Cairo, Tanta, and Mansoura, including TBS, Mahraja, and Pasta 2go. Vendors can request a rider from RoadRunner's app or web portal as soon as they receive an order, and the rider will deliver the food promptly.

Ahmed Radi, the co-founder and CMO of RoadRunner, announced the startup's plan to launch an on-demand delivery service for individual customers within the next few weeks. This expansion is part of RoadRunner's plans to raise a significantly larger round very soon to expand to other markets in the region.

Ahmed Radi is also associated with a tech and startup platform named our x, of which Zubair Naeem Paracha, the founder, is also a part. Zubair is building Qraar, a career discovery and development platform for millennials in MENA.

The article was written by Zubair Naeem Paracha, who is based in Lahore, Pakistan. For more information, Zubair can be reached on LinkedIn, Twitter, or via email at [email protected].

As RoadRunner continues to grow and expand, it's clear that the future of on-demand delivery in Egypt and beyond is looking bright.
