E-commerce platform for baby products in Pakistan, Baby Planet, secures $250,000 investment spearheaded by High Output Ventures
Lahore-based online retailer Baby Planet, a leading provider of baby products, has raised $250,000 in a seed round. The investment was led by Singapore-based High Output Ventures, with participation from Pakistan-focused VC Karavan, US-based Virtual Force, and some Middle Eastern angels.
Founded in 2014 by Irfan Ahmed, Baby Planet offers over 5,000 SKUs of baby products online, including wipes, diapers, strollers, and cribs. The platform ships products all over Pakistan and offers free shipping on orders above PKR 1,500 (approximately $9).
Since the start of the pandemic in February, Baby Planet has witnessed a significant spike in its sales. The company's annual GMV is a seven-figure (USD) figure, not the eight-figure as previously stated.
Irfan Ahmed, the founder of Baby Planet, is described as a resilient and home-grown entrepreneur with a deep understanding of his sector. Meenah Tariq, a Partner at Karavan, expressed pride in Irfan Ahmed and Baby Planet being a part of their venture capital firm.
Usman Sheikh, the Managing Director of High Output Ventures, expressed optimism about Baby Planet becoming one of the leading baby e-commerce companies in Pakistan. Baby Planet plans to use part of the investment to launch mobile apps for iOS and Android.
High Output Ventures also launched an accelerator program to invest in Pakistani startups. Zubair Naeem Paracha, the founder of our x and a tech and startup enthusiast based in Lahore, Pakistan, wrote the article.
In addition to Baby Planet, Zubair Paracha is also building Qraar, a career discovery and development platform for millennials in MENA. The article discusses various other tech and startup-related news in Lahore, Pakistan, and the MENA region. However, it does not mention any new facts about Baby Planet's sales, products, shipping, or mobile app launch plans.
