Minsk Dinamo made history on the opening day of the 18th edition of the Mayor's Cup pre-season tournament, defeating Nizhny Novgorod's Torpedo with a convincing 7:3 score at the "Megasport" Sports Palace in Moscow. This is Minsk Dinamo's first participation in the tournament.

The Belarusian team showcased their strength and determination, with key contributions from American player Alex Limoj who earned 1+2 points in the goal + pass system. Ilya Usov, Josh Brook, Sam Enas, Daniil Sotishvili, Vadim Moroz, and Vitaly Pinchuk also scored for Minsk.

The game started with a goal from Nizhny Novgorod, but Minsk responded quickly, leveling the score before the end of the first period. The victory was achieved in the second and third periods, after initially leveling the score following the opponent's goal.

Minsk's next challenge comes on August 30th at 18:30, when they face Moscow's Dinamo. This tournament is an important step for Minsk Dinamo in preparing for the new KHL season.

This year's Mayor's Cup features six teams, one more than the previous editions. Six KHL clubs are participating in this year's event: Moscow's CSKA, Spartak, and Dinamo, Nizhny Novgorod's Torpedo, the Chinese Shanghai Dragons, and Minsk Dinamo. The Shanghai Dragons are the only non-Russian team participating.

Previously, the Mayor's Cup trophy has been won by CSKA, Spartak, and "Vityaz". The tournament includes a group stage and final matches for the final rankings.

It's worth noting that Forward Andrei Belevich of "Torpedo" did not score any points in the game, and Belarusian goalkeeper Ivan Kulbakov of "Torpedo" did not play.

The Mayor's Cup is a traditional pre-season tournament featuring KHL clubs, providing an excellent opportunity for teams to test their skills and strategies before the start of the new season. With Minsk Dinamo's impressive win in the opener, the team is certainly one to watch in the upcoming matches.
