Liverpool appoints a new coach. - Dutchman Appointed as Klopp's Successor
Arne Slot (age 45) announced that he will be taking over as the new coach. The speculations regarding potential replacements for Klopp were plentiful. However, Slot seems to have edged past them all now.
"Yes, I can confirm that I will be the coach at that club next season," Slot stated on Friday. Until now, Liverpool has not made an official announcement.
Slot had a remarkably successful tenure with Feyenoord Rotterdam for three years. In his debut season, he guided Rotterdam all the way to the first final of the Europa Conference League (losing to AS Roma by a scored of 0-1). In his second season, they triumphed in the Eredivisie title. This season, Feyenoord won the Dutch KNVB Cup again.
Earlier, Klopp revealed that he is leaving Liverpool FC earlier than expected. His contract with the Premier League club would've extended till 2026. Nevertheless, he cited exhaustion as the reason behind his decision to depart.
