Dutch regulator slaps €750K fine on ComeOn for failing to protect young gamblers
The Dutch gambling regulator, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has fined Tulipa Ent Limited €750,000 for failing to protect young players from excessive losses. The penalty follows an investigation into the company's handling of high-risk gambling behaviour on its platform, ComeOn. Regulators found that the operator did not intervene quickly enough to prevent harm.
The KSA launched its probe after 10 young adults suffered significant financial losses while gambling on ComeOn between December 2023 and September 2024. Investigators discovered that Tulipa Ent Limited had not detected or addressed the players' excessive activity in time. As a result, the company failed in its legal duty to prevent gambling-related harm.
This fine is part of a wider crackdown by the KSA on operators neglecting their duty of care. Previous penalties were issued to LeoVegas and BetCity for similar violations. KSA chair Michel Groothuizen stressed that protecting vulnerable groups, particularly young adults, remains a top priority for the regulator. The €750,000 penalty—equivalent to around $874,300—highlights the KSA's strict enforcement of gambling safety rules. Tulipa Ent Limited now faces pressure to strengthen its monitoring systems and prevent future breaches.
The fine serves as a warning to other operators about the consequences of failing to protect players. Tulipa Ent Limited must now implement stricter controls to comply with Dutch gambling laws. The KSA continues to monitor the industry closely for similar violations.
