Duo wins big at BiS Awards and SiGMA Poker Tour: Father and Son Take Top Prizes
Winning Big in Brazil: Deddi Orpaz's Triumph at SiGMA Poker Tour
Victory So Sweet! The SiGMA Poker Tour's debut in Brazil was a smashing success, with Israeli poker pro, Deddi Orpaz, clinching the inaugural Main Event title at the Monte Carlo Poker Club, Sao Paulo. Among a field of 293 entries, Orpaz outlasted all opponents, securing a grand prize of $58,700[1][2][3].
The tournament, spanning five days, was filled with high-stakes thrills and competitive showdowns. The anticipation built day by day as both seasoned vets and eager amateurs took their seats for the Main Event kick-off on Thursday[4].
"This SPT was a dream come true," beamed Ivonne Montealgre, the SiGMA Poker Tour Operations Manager. "We brought together top-notch poker with a strong recreational essence, delivering a world-class gambling experience right to Sao Paulo's doorstep. And boy, did the city show up!" she exclaimed.
Champions' Circle
With son Tom Orpaz scooping up the Rising Star of the Year award at the BiS Awards mere days prior, it was a momentous occasion for the proud father[4]. Overjoyed with his son's achievement and inspired by his words, Orpaz aimed to add another trophy to their collection.
Reflecting on his win, Orpaz expressed his delight, stating, "I visited SΓ£o Paulo for my son's company's award function, where we made history as a small Israeli group. My son encouraged me to take another award, and that's exactly what I did!"
His appreciation for Brazil's warm hospitality was evident, as he praised the friendly locals, whose enthusiasm went beyond mere gambling - "the people here are always happy, they love to dance, and their service is exceptional, even better than in Atlantic City or LA. I can't wait to return," Orpaz said[4].
The tumultuous tournament saw Argentinian Jaques Blit making a strong start, amassing chips in three of the four rounds. However, as the game progressed, Orpaz and Blit pondered a final deal. In the end, they opted to push ahead, with a dramatic climax leading to Orpaz's triumph[4]. Blit earned a consolation prize of $32,600, followed by Brazilian Cristian Rico's $23,300[4].
Journey's End... Or Beginning?
With the Brazilian event wrapped up, the SiGMA Poker Tour sights are now set on Malta for its next stop, promising a thrilling poker experience from September 3 to 7, 2025[4].
