In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), motorists are urged to prioritise safety on the roads as stringent measures are in place to enhance road safety and deter reckless driving.

Authorities in the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai impose hefty fines for irresponsible driving and speeding violations. For overspeeding, motorists can face fines up to Dh2,000 and 12 black points. In Abu Dhabi, reckless driving incurs a fine of Dh50,000. Meanwhile, Ras Al Khaimah imposes a penalty of up to Dh20,000 and a three-month vehicle impoundment policy for reckless driving.

If fines are not paid and impounded cars are not claimed within three months in Ras Al Khaimah, the vehicles are auctioned. Dubai Police emphasized that a moment of recklessness can cost lives.

The left lane, typically reserved for faster-moving vehicles, should not be used as a freeway for breaking speed limits. The community can report traffic violations through the 'Police Eye' service on the Dubai Police app.

Dubai Police recently released a video compilation showing incidents of vehicles speeding through the left lane of highways, highlighting the dangers of reckless driving behaviour. The video underscores the importance of adhering to traffic rules and driving responsibly.
