1.88 parts per thousand - Drunk truck driver causes traffic accident

On a Friday afternoon, there was a significant collision at the A96 Landsberg Nord intersection. Two individuals sustained severe injuries.

At approximately 2:20 p.m., a 54-year-old truck driver was traveling toward Lindau on a multi-axle truck. While changing lanes, this individual failed to notice a 68-year-old man's car, driving it into the central crash barrier. The older man as well as the truck driver's coworker both received injuries, and fuel spilled on the road.

1.88 Percent Blood Alcohol Level!

The culprit behind the accident also suffered serious injuries. Rescue teams airlifted him to Murnau Hospital. A breathalyzer test shortly thereafter revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 1.88%. He may now face charges for reckless harm to others and endangerment of traffic.

Following the accident, clean-up efforts and vehicle recovery continued until 8 p.m. Emergency services rerouted traffic, resulting in substantial traffic delays in the Landsberg urban area.

The fuel spill from the collision had reached the entire nearby neighborhood and the Lech river spanning from Landsberg to Lech Dam 18 near Kaufering. Due to these contamination concerns, the district administration advises avoiding the area around Kaufering. It is expected that the process to remove the contamination will reach completion on Saturday night.

The financial damages resulting from the incident are projected to be around 80,000 euros.
