Driver under the influence of alcohol flees accident scene
In the small town of Weißensee, County of Sömmerda, a hit-and-run traffic accident occurred recently. The incident involved a 52-year-old man on a small motorcycle and an 87-year-old driver.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. However, the motorcycle rider, after colliding with the car, failed to stop and fled the scene. The car driver notified the police, and initially, a pursuit ensued.
A police patrol took over the pursuit and eventually apprehended the 52-year-old. Upon testing, a breathalyzer revealed a blood alcohol concentration of approximately 2.7 per mil for the motorcycle rider. As a result, charges were filed against him for endangering traffic and leaving the scene of an accident.
The man was taken to the hospital for a blood test. The estimated property damage is around 2,000 euros.
