Dresden's Ice Lions playground gleams under the cold glow of the ocean's ebb
The JOYNEXT Arena in Dresden is undergoing a significant transformation, as the city prepares to welcome back the Dresden Ice Lions for the start of the new season. The renovation, being carried out in accordance with the DEL guidelines, is nearing completion, with the first home game scheduled for September 14.
The Dresden Ice Lions have invested around 450,000 euros in the renovation, while the city of Dresden has contributed an additional 600,000 euros. The construction company responsible for the project is the Bautzen-based Hentschke Bau.
Notable improvements include the rebuilding of boards and player benches around the rink, the installation of over 100 LEDs for bright, icy floodlights during TV broadcasts, and the addition of new goals. A camera tower and a press room have also been installed at the arena, ensuring top-notch media coverage for the team's home games.
Maik Walsdorf, managing director of the Dresden Ice Lions, is confident that the arena will be fully renovated by the first home game. The opposing team for this historic occasion will be ERC Ingolstadt.
The first home game at the renovated arena will mark the start of the new season for the Dresden Ice Lions, who will begin their campaign in the top German ice hockey league. Fans can look forward to an exciting new chapter in the team's history, played out in a state-of-the-art arena.
