Dresden Fire Department Responds to Multiple Incidents on August 30, 2025
The Dresden Fire Department was kept busy on August 30, 2025, as they responded to several incidents across the city.
The day's first call came in at 7:29 PM, with a beeping smoke alarm in a high-rise building on Holbeinstraße, Johannstadt. Upon arrival, no visible smoke or fire was detected, but a subsequent check at the building's rear side did not confirm the presence of smoke.
Just over three hours later, at 10:53 PM, the fire department was called out to a burning car on Kirchenweg, Mobschatz. A total of 29 firefighters and paramedics from various stations, including Übigau, Altstadt, Löbtau, B-Duty, U-Duty, and Mobschatz local fire station, were involved in extinguishing the fire. An unconscious person was found on a couch in the apartment, and medical measures were immediately initiated. The injured person was transported to a hospital after initial treatment by the rescue service.
Later in the evening, a fire of waste materials occurred at a recycling company located on Maxener Straße, Lockwitz. The fire was extinguished by the fire department with the help of an excavator from the company.
Throughout the day, the fire department's team in breathing apparatus gained non-violent entry to affected apartments and found smoke from burnt food, as well as hotspots that required extinguishing with heavy foam.
In addition to the fires, the emergency services in Dresden were alerted a total of 221 times in the last 24 hours. This included 16 deployments for technical assistance, such as supporting traffic accidents, removing spilled hazardous materials, or providing carrying assistance for the emergency services.
Four false alarms were triggered by automatic fire alarm systems, and in 74 cases, the services of an emergency physician were required.
The police have taken up investigations into the cause of the fire at Holbeinstraße, Johannstadt, and the incident site was handed over to an employee of the company, with joint follow-up checks agreed for the evening and the following morning.
On August 31, 2025, the fire stations from Dresden involved included the fire and rescue stations Übigau and Altstadt, as well as the rescue station Leuben. The rescue helicopter Christoph 38 was requested five times in the control center area during this period.
