Dream11 Stops Paid Competitions, Revokes Cricket National Team Sponsorship

Dream11, a popular online gaming platform in India, has announced the termination of its multi-million-dollar sponsorship agreement with the country's national cricket team. The decision comes in line with the recently enacted Promotion & Regulation of Online Gambling Law 2025, which prohibits real-money online gaming.

The sponsorship agreement, signed in 2023, was a significant portion of Dream11's income, as paid contests were responsible for a substantial portion of the company's revenue. The termination occurred several days ahead of the T20 Asia Cup, a major cricket tournament in the region.

Under the agreement, Dream11 secured a spot on the front of athletes' jerseys for both the men's and women's divisions. The termination of this agreement is likely due to India's decision to put an end to online gaming and betting.

Dream11, however, remains committed to following the new law and supporting Hon'ble Prime Minister's ambition of making India a global sporting superpower. The company has announced it will pivot entirely to a free-to-play online social game.

In a statement, Dream11 expressed gratitude to its fans for helping it become a local powerhouse and reminisced about its humble beginnings. The company also reiterated its commitment to supporting the local sports sector while complying with the law.

The new law will undoubtedly affect Dream11's business, given its focus on real-money gaming. However, Dream11's portfolio of businesses, including FanCode, DreamSetGo, and Dream Game Studios, will continue to power its vision to "Make Sports Better."

Despite the changes, Dream11 continues to support the local sports sector. The company has stated that it will no longer host paid contests on its platform, aligning with the new regulations. Dream11 is optimistic about its future and looks forward to continuing its journey in the world of sports.
