Dramatic footage captures a daring rescue of a young boy who ventured onto an aerial monorail at Hersheypark, Pennsylvania
In a heart-stopping incident at Pennsylvania's Hersheypark on Saturday, a young boy was successfully rescued after wandering onto the track of the Capital BlueCross Monorail. The monorail, an elevated ride offering an audio tour of the amusement park, was not in operation at the time.
The drama unfolded around 5 p.m. when the child was reported missing after becoming separated from his parents. Witnesses described the boy walking alone on the monorail track, causing distress among onlookers and stirring a flurry of activity among park staff.
As the boy stood on the track, seemingly confused, a brave park guest, easily identifiable by a green hat, sprang into action. The Good Samaritan scaled the monorail track and rescued the child, motioning for him to follow. The incident was captured on video, showing the boy being lifted to safety to the cheers and applause of the onlookers.
The child was not harmed during the rescue and was reunited with his family approximately 20 minutes after he was reported missing. The monorail was closed and safeguarded during the search for the child, with a chained closure at the entrance and a barricaded turnstile at the platform.
Hershey Entertainment & Resorts confirmed that their team was actively searching for the child. The boy entered a secured area for the Monorail while the team was searching. Staff immediately responded to the area after the boy was seen on the tracks.
The monorail's track is approximately 20 feet off the ground, adding an extra layer of danger to the situation. The incident caused a stir on social media, with many expressing relief and admiration for the actions of the Good Samaritan.
Onlookers encouraged the boy to keep walking to the left before some told him to stop. One of them even shouted instructions to the boy while pointing left. Despite the tense situation, the quick thinking and bravery of the Good Samaritan ensured a happy ending to this potentially dangerous incident.
