Controversial acting display - Double pass dealings with BVB!

"An Embarrassing Defeat!"

Franz: "How can such a strong team let Mainz thoroughly thrash them? Respect to Mainz for having a fantastic second half of the season, but a different perspective is needed."

This season, a team that caused lots of trouble for them in the previous championship, delivered a pathetic performance which sparked frustration from Franz.

Franz: "As a player, I would've thought to give it our all, forcing Mainz into the relegation spots, possibly even the second division. Their close call in the previous season made it a must."

Franz delivered a harsh judgment on the players: "That was a truly shameful display by the players doing poorly in the first half."

The detailed review: BVB barely stood a chance against Mainz, who almost landed in relegation. The game witnessed zero resistance, with BVB making reckless mistakes, resulting in a 3-0 deficit within 23 minutes. The trouble: just before the Mainz game started, 1. FC Köln showed a remarkable comeback against Union Berlin (3:2) giving them hope of escaping relegation. As a result, now BVB is the only team heading for relegation. Do BVB have a corrupting influence on the competition?

Franz, who has played in several relegation battles (including with Hertha BSC and Eintracht Frankfurt), has a clear viewpoint on the distortion of competition: "I've been through the relegation battles many times, and I agree - it's unfair how those teams are treated."

Mainz still has the opportunity to escape relegation, facing VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga's final matchday. Union Berlin will fight relegation against SC Freiburg, and FC Köln have to prepare for Heidenheim.
