Dormagen’s Colorful Chicken Sculpture Celebrates 50 Years of Cityhood

Dormagen has unveiled a vibrant chicken sculpture to mark its 50th anniversary as a city. The artwork, part of a community project, was officially presented by Mayor Erik Lierenfeld alongside local organisers. Residents are now being invited to help name the piece, with suggestions open from November 7.

The sculpture, named Dorum by the donating city of Dormagen, was created through a collaborative effort. Children, teens, and adults worked together under the guidance of artist Dirk 'Rollo' Jochmann and project initiator Bertamaria Reetz of Creativ-Help GmbH. The goal was to encourage creativity, teamwork, and environmental awareness.

The art chicken now stands as a public landmark in Dormagen. Its creation involved broad community participation, and the naming process will further engage locals. The project’s organisers hope it will remain a lasting symbol of the city’s 50-year milestone.
