Doja Cat, RAYE, and Lisa claim victory in the MTV VMAs for the category of Best K-Pop, with their collaboration titled 'Born Again'.

Lisa, a member of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, made history at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) by winning the Best K-Pop award for the third time. Her winning single, "Born Again," was a collaborative effort with American artists Doja Cat and RAYE.

Lisa's solo debut came in 2021 with the hip-hop single "Lalisa." However, it was "Born Again" that marked her return to the Korean-pop industry in 2025. The English-language pop single was a comeback for Lisa and a significant step in her career.

The 2025 VMAs marked Lisa's third win in the Best K-Pop category in four years. She previously won in 2022 for "Rockstar" and in 2021 for "Lalisa." Interestingly, Lisa and the K-pop group BTS are tied for the most wins in the Best K-Pop category, each with three wins since its introduction in 2019.

BTS, who were unable to attend the 2025 VMAs ceremony in person, won the award in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024, excluding the years 2022 and 2025. In 2020, they won for "ON," and in 2021, they won for "Butter."

The 2025 VMAs also saw Stray Kids secure a win in the Best K-Pop category with their song "S-Class," which they won in 2023 as well. The nominations for the Best K-Pop category this year included songs by Lisa's BLACKPINK bandmates, Jimin of BTS, Stray Kids, and aespa.

There was some debate about whether "Born Again" should be considered a K-pop song due to its collaboration with international artists and its English language. Regardless, the song marked Doja Cat's sixth VMA and RAYE's first win. RAYE was first recognized in 2021 with a nod in the Video for Good category for her single "Genesis."

Lisa, who was unable to attend the 2025 VMAs ceremony in person, recorded a winner's speech that aired during the pre-show. Her tour with BLACKPINK in 2025 also contributed to her return to the Korean-pop industry.

In conclusion, the 2025 VMAs were a significant event for Lisa, marking her third win in the Best K-Pop category in four years. Her single "Born Again" with Doja Cat and RAYE continues to make waves in the K-pop industry, and it will be interesting to see what Lisa accomplishes next in her career.
