Firefighters to Showcase Diversity at Cologne's CSD Demonstration

The "Diversity" network of the Association of Fire Departments (VdF) in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) will be participating in this year's Christopher Street Day (CSD) demonstration in Cologne. Approximately 80 members from the network, accompanied by fire departments from Cologne and Sankt Augustin, will join an estimated 60,000 participants in the demonstration.

The event, which will take place from the Deutzer Bridge to a target point near the Cathedral, aims to showcase the diversity and tolerance within the fire departments in NRW. The firefighters will present themselves with starting numbers 215 and 216 in the parade. Two emergency vehicles, provided by the fire departments of Cologne and St. Augustin, will accompany the "Diversity" network.

Guests in the "Light and Siren Convoy" include Susanne Stupp, Mayor of the city of Frechen, Leon Pleuger, State Youth Fire Chief, and Thomas Karl from the Dortmund Trade Fair, among others. Thomas Klammt (Youth Fire Brigade Lower Saxony), Christian Thieral (Fire Department Hamburg), and Sonja Danzel (Fire Department Munich) will also be present.

The Cologne-Kalk fire station will serve as hosts for the network and their friends before and after the demonstration. The Association of Fire Brigades in NRW, the organization responsible for the "Diversity" network participating in the CSD 2024 in Cologne, can be contacted at Windhukstraße 8, 42277 Wuppertal. Andreas Kirchharz, the contact person for the "Diversity" network, can be reached at [email protected]. The specific founding date of the "Diversity" network of the VdF NRW is not provided in the available search results.

With an estimated 1.5 million spectators expected to line the route of the demonstration, it promises to be a significant event showcasing the diversity and inclusivity within the fire departments of NRW.
