Dive reveals fatal incident: Collapse of a roof at a Dargah in proximity to Humayun's Tomb in Delhi regrettably results in 6 fatalities, numerous rescues accomplished.

In a tragic incident on Friday, a room within the Dargah Sharif Patte Shah complex adjacent to Humayun's Tomb in Delhi collapsed under persistent rain. Eyewitnesses described the collapse as sudden, occurring as people sought shelter from the rain.

The tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the vulnerability of structures even in close proximity to hallowed historical monuments. At least six people were confirmed dead by authorities, and nearly a dozen others were rescued and hospitalized.

The rescue operation was a multi-agency effort involving fire teams, the National Disaster Response Force, Delhi Police, and other agencies. Residents also assisted in the rescue efforts. Ten to twelve people were rescued from the debris.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) emphasized that the collapse occurred in an unprotected, peripheral structure adjoining the historic mausoleum. The maintenance and security of the Dargah Sharif Patte Shah are typically the responsibility of local municipal authorities and heritage conservation bodies, such as the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) or the Delhi Wakf Board.

Investigators are assessing whether the dargah structure's failure in rainy weather was caused in part by its use, potentially without the necessary safety certifications. The identities and injury details of the victims have not yet been disclosed.

The Sunder Nursery near Humayun's Tomb in Delhi is undergoing renovation and revitalization. Despite the collapse, Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was not damaged.

Rescue crews worked diligently to finish operations as soon as possible, ensuring timely medical care for survivors. The ASI expressed its ability to assist at the site only because of its location near the protected area. The rescue operation concluded, but the complete causes of the collapse are still being investigated.
