District of Regensburg acquires a versatile watercraft for the Wörth Fire Department
New Multipurpose Boat Enhances Safety and Disaster Response in Regensburg District
A new multipurpose boat has been introduced to the Wörth fire department in the Regensburg district, significantly boosting the safety of citizens in the area. The boat, manufactured by Schiebel and ordered in 2023, was officially handed over on August 28, 2025.
The predecessor boat, which had been in service for nearly 30 years, was no longer viable due to the scarcity of spare parts and high repair costs. The replacement procurement, initiated by Regional Fire Chief Wolfgang Scheuerer in 2024, aimed to ensure long-term operational readiness.
The new boat is a versatile tool for various tasks on the Danube, serving in the context of regional disaster control according to the Bavarian Fire Protection Act. It is used for oil barrier laying, missing person searches, evacuations, and fighting fires from the water. The boat is a central piece of equipment for the Wörth fire department and is crucial for fire and disaster protection in the Regensburg district.
Bavarian State Minister Tanja Schweiger was present at the handover ceremony, highlighting the importance of the new boat for the region. A test drive for the new boat took place on August 31, 2025, demonstrating its capabilities and readiness for duty.
The multipurpose boat contributes significantly to the safety of citizens throughout the Regensburg district, serving as a vital asset in maintaining the region's disaster response readiness. Its acquisition marks a crucial step forward in ensuring the protection of the community in the years to come.
