Distinguished British Royals Honor Queen Elizabeth - Individual Tributes Made
Prince Harry made a public appearance on Monday evening, attending an event for an organisation that supports seriously ill children. The event marked a rare public outing for the Duke of Sussex, who has been embroiled in a series of family disputes.
Harry's visit to Windsor Castle earlier in the week also highlighted the ongoing tension within the royal family. He laid a bouquet of flowers at Queen Elizabeth II's grave, referring to her as his "Granny," a touching gesture that underscored the deep personal loss felt by Harry.
His remarks during a recent interview sparked speculations about the health of the cancer-stricken monarch, adding to the air of sombreness surrounding the royal family. Harry revealed that some members of his family will never forgive him for writing a book, and for many other things, he did not specify.
The estranged princes Harry and William were geographically in the same location for the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death. However, a meeting between the two brothers was largely ruled out by British media. William visited one of the UK's largest women's organisations, which had a close connection with Queen Elizabeth II, as a sign of respect.
Harry expressed a desire for reconciliation with his family, but his legal defeat over state-funded security for visits to the UK has created a rift. He does not want to bring his family to the UK without the security provided by British security agencies. This decision has further strained his relationship with his brother, William, and his father, King Charles III.
Prince Harry last met his father on September 10, 2025, at Clarence House in London. The meeting, which lasted about 55 minutes, was their first personal encounter in nearly 20 months. Since his legal defeat, Harry has only visited the UK alone.
Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, live with their two children, Prince Archie (6) and Princess Lilibet (4), in the U.S. state of California. The relationship between Harry and William is said to be particularly strained, with some reports suggesting that it may never fully heal.
Despite the ongoing family drama, William expressed his disbelief about the three-year anniversary since Queen Elizabeth II's death to the Press Association. He visited the organisation to which the late monarch had a close connection as a way to honour her memory and carry on her legacy.
As the royal family navigates this challenging time, the public continues to watch with interest, hoping for a resolution to the ongoing tensions and a return to harmony within the royal family.
