Disruption during Söder's summer-time interview on the sideline
In two separate incidents, live interviews in Berlin's government district were disrupted by protesters.
On July 26, the ARD's summer interview with CSU chairman Markus Söder was disrupted by protesters identified as being from the right-wing scene, specifically the right-wing extremist Identitarian Movement. The group took responsibility for the disturbance and also spread a video of the incident online.
This incident followed a previous disruption during a live-streamed ARD interview on July 20th with AfD chairwoman Alice Weidel. The protesters in this case were organized by self-proclaimed political art activists from the Center for Political Beauty.
The ARD stated that they had tightened their security measures after the Weidel incident, and technical and editorial measures were taken to ensure a disruption-free interview with Söder. The police were able to quickly intervene because a deployment unit was already on site in both incidents.
Five protesters were temporarily detained during the Söder incident.
Elsewhere, the Weidel incident took place on the terrace of the Marie-Elisabeth-Luders-House of the Bundestag.
In a different context, VfL Sindelfingen experienced their first setback in the Football Landesliga, Division II.
