Display at Gütersloh Town Hall: "The Europian Art" Showcase
In the heart of Gütersloh, Germany, the city hall forum played host to an extraordinary exhibition titled "Art of Europe" on September 2nd, 2025. This event, part of the city's anniversary celebrations, "200 years of Gütersloh," brought together works from artists across Europe, showcasing contemporary art with local connections from Broxtowe (UK), Châteauroux (FR), Falun (SE), and Grudziądz (PL).
One of the featured artists was French photographer Bruno Dewaele, representing Châteauroux. His works took viewers on a visual treasure hunt through Europe, inviting them to change perspectives.
Joining Bruno Dewaele at the vernissage was Swedish artist Nina Edling, known for her intricate woodcut and linocut works, and Polish street artist SOMEART. In a conversation with Culture Commissioner Andreas Kimpel, Edling and SOMEART expressed their support for European unity and the C-City partnership network, which brings together actors from Gütersloh's partner cities to implement creative projects and realize joint cultural initiatives.
The exhibition, which runs from September to October, 2025, features a diverse range of artworks, from photography to intricate prints. English works in the exhibition include those by photographer Lesley Grand-Scrutton, artist Jane Shipton, and illustrator Toby Anderton. Toby Anderton's work "Europe together," a schematic map of Europe, is a clear statement of the artist's support for Europe.
The Ensemble Vinorosso provided music for the exhibition opening, creating a harmonious atmosphere for guests to enjoy the art on display. Admission to the exhibition is free, making it accessible to all who wish to experience the symbol of culture as a bridge for European unity.
The "Art of Europe" exhibition can be visited from September to the end of October during the opening hours of Gütersloh city hall and by appointment. This is an opportunity not to be missed for those seeking a cultural journey through Europe in the heart of Gütersloh.
